The Cotswolds are a popular area for country holiday breaks in the heart of England. The area appeals on many different levels. Firstly the countryside has that quintessential English feel with open fields bordered by trees, while the villages from afar have that wonderful yellow glow. The yellow glow is from the locally produced Cotswolds Stone, which is a form of limestone.

Within the Cotswolds area are a number of towns and villages that developed as prosperous wool towns in the medieval period with many still having market houses and cottages that have not changed for hundreds of years. Outstanding examples include Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold and Broadway, while Bourton-on-the-Water is renowned for its riverside setting.
